Thankful Thursday 31st October

This week I am thanking God for:

- the chance to see Emma get a certificate of Distinction in the maths competition (apparently being a maths nerd is genetic);

- a successful outing to the movies for the whole family - even Emma overcame her anxiety to go to the movie - and Ashlea was a champion and sat quietly on my lap for the whole movie. The only hiccup was that her nappy leaked....and she wee'd all over me....;

- that the wee patch wasn't too horribly obvious when I had to walk the length of the shopping centre after the movie to get back to the car;

- an understanding shop assistant yesterday - she was tiny like me and we commiserated about how hard it is to find clothes that fit when you're little and that all our friends are not very sympathetic to our plight;

- that I spotted this little bugger floating in my tea BEFORE taking a swig;

- pyjama mufti day at school - SO MUCH WIN for Mummy - and yes my kids did go to school in the pyjamas they'd worn the night before;

- bathroom progress....not long to go now;

We have tiles, a door and a light.  Hopefully
tomorrow we'll get a toilet!!

- faithful friends who pray you through the difficult times;

- a faithful God who works even through (particularly through?) the difficult times.

And seeing as it is November tomorrow get ready for a lot more thankful posts - I am going to try and do 30 Days of Thankfulness again.  Anyone want to join me?  Just post what you're thankful for in the comments or on Facebook.  It really does help - try it and see!!!

Thankful Thursday

Sunday School - Ashlea Style...

What did you learn about in Sunday School today Ashlea?

It was about "The Fruit of the Spinach...." she says.

Thankful Thursday 24th October

This week I am thanking God for:

- baby duck's resilience and determination.  She just wants to practise her walking SO MUCH.  Sadly this has also meant learning how to fall;

Yes that is a black eye - she was more upset when I
tried to stop her walking than she was by the bruise...

- the chance to catch up with friends;

- the opportunity to meet with other mum's who get it;

- encouraging words;

- stable kidney function for Ashlea (bloods on Tuesday showed her creatinine is still a lovely 40);

- bathroom progress

We have tiles!  The toilet is going under that open window - we have
promised to wave to the super neighbours from our new
vantage point...

- a minecraft management plan;

- other kids who share Emma's strengths (maths and minecraft);
Emma received this nerd love note from her school pal :)

Thankful Thursday 17th October

This week I am thanking God for:

- bathroom construction underway;

Middle of Day 2...
- that we have an ensuite to use during the construction and don't have to use the porta-bathroom they offered to install in our front yard;

- the chance to attend school assembly and see Audrey's class dance the macarena and Ashlea receive an award - for working well in a noisy environment;

- a Christmas shopping WIN - look who I found in my local DJ's...

Tom and Angela

And Ginger

- time to read a book - well not so much that I had time to read a book, more that I abandoned my responsibilities to read a book...;

- courageous men who were willing to stand up and be counted (I am reading Bonhoeffer: Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy - I thoroughly recommend it);

- all those working hard to fight the fires in the current bush fire crisis;

- and of course for Ashlea's amazing new party trick.  Who would have ever thought it?

What Ashlea Did Next...

Tonight Murray was sitting at the table eating his dinner when he saw a little blonde head walk past him.  He was forced to do a double take when he realised it was Ashlea.

Until now we have always helped her to stand up and get started with her walking.  This is a whole new development and means I will have to have eyes in the back of my head to watch her and make sure she is safe.

For those who are new to the Ashlea story this is nothing short of amazing.  AMAZING.

God is good.

PS Sometimes videos don't come through in the emailed version so here is the direct link.

PPS Yes that is a bath in my lounge room.

Thankful Thursday: 10th October

This week I am thanking God for:

- daylight savings;

- a successful first respite outing for Murray;

- catch ups with friends;

- cafes that only serve chocolate;

- the first swim of the season - for the kids anyway.  The water is still WAY too cold for me;

- bathroom supplies delivered ready for bathroom construction to begin on Monday;

- meeting to chat and pray with other mum's who get it;

- piggies growing back - so cute;

Piggies and Peggies both growing

- the wisdom of the pigtailed one:
The night before school went back:  I gonna miss my holidays.
The first morning of school:  How many until Saturday?
The second morning of school (while we're all waiting in the car for Emma): Are you going to drag Emma off the toilet?

Thankful Thursday

Thankful Thursday 3rd October

This week I am thanking God for:

- interstate friends who insist on cleaning your kitchen when they come to visit;

- and who also insist on paying for someone to come and wash your windows inside and out;

- the encouragement of Christian friends;

- friends with a key to the wheelchair swing to meet at the park and hang out with;

- birthday parties for Ashlea to attend (it never ceases to give me a thrill when she gets invited to things);

- a good dental check up for Emma;

- remembering that even though the twins both have terribly weak tooth enamel from being premature (they are going to need fillings - argh) that it really is a small problem in the big scheme of how far they've come;

- a singing, dancing school holiday activity for Audrey to enjoy;

- plenty of Minecraft time for Emma to enjoy;

- and of course plenty of swing time for Ashlea.

Thankful Thursday
